Shankar Mahadevan Academy | Learn Indian Music Online

Music…. Is there anyone who doesn’t like music of their own choice? Music is a perfect friend and a powerful medicine.

When I was young my mom used to join me to some music class. But for my fate, either the music teacher used to get transferred or teacher was not regular or I was not regular. Somehow I couldn’t make it to learn. And moreover I was not interested to learn singing at that age. Plus I don’t like to learn traditional music. Each one has their own likes and dislikes. Likewise even my liking was different. I just want to learn how to sing movie songs perfectly.

A year back, I took interest in learning music. I started searching music classes. I used find out contact numbers in internet or ask friends etc. While enquiring I was asking for a class which lets to learn only movie songs. To this question of mine, the response was always negative and few people used to give philosophy too. Well I appreciate their concern though I was not convinced.

Few months back, I found there is a category called Sugama Sangeeth which is all about songs but not movie songs. Still took interest to enquire. Found Saadhana music Academy,Bangalore which offers a course on Sugama Sangeeth. For my fate I couldn’t join because of the timings.

Decided to stop music related search, and enquiries……………….

Recently one fine day I don’t know what made me do this “I opened google.com and I entered online music classes. I didn’t have any hope.” To my surprise, I saw a link which said “Shankar Mahadevan Academy | Learn Indian Music Online

I quickly clicked on the link. I was exploring the website for some time and I found a course of my choice. There was a Hindi movie songs course. I was so happy. Eureka !!!!!

Once again the quote proved “Never loose hopes”

I was little worried about this course initially. I sent my queries to the support system info@shankarmahadevanacademy.com. I thought as other support systems, this would take long time to respond back. But this support system is just awesome. They clarified all my queries quickly.

Shankar Mahadevan, this name was enough to believe in this academy, this name gave me confidence to enrol for the course.

And I did enrol and started my journey in Shankar Mahadevan Academy. I am really enjoying the music course.

The reason for writing this is mainly to let people know that there is an online music class for those who couldn’t learn music due to time constraints, place constraints etc. Don’t miss this opportunity.

To those who are interested in singing they can visit http://www.shankarmahadevanacademy.com/

Salary !! How much do you get ?

Whenever I go to my Dad's village[My native] and meet some people I will be asked 4 standard questions.

Person: What is your name ?
Me: Shilpa.
Person: Nice. What are you doing ?
Me: Working.
Person: Really ? As what ?
Me: Engineer.
Person: How much is your Salary ?

This last question has led to a lot of confusions/Anger/Funny incidents.

When this question was asked for the first time, I answered as "Sorry, we are not suppose to tell our salary according to our company rules". This was during early days of my job, where we learnt not to tell our salaries. But after replying like that, I was laughing because I don't know what that person might be thinking ?

They might think

1. This girl has lot of attitude.
2. She gets huge salary that she doesnot want to tell.
3. She gets very less salary that she wants to hide it.

Uff, Really not sure how to reply for this..

And these days they will have options for the same question.

Person: How much is the Salary ? You might get 50000/80000 right ?

I will be laughing inside, we know in reality how much we get. I am really not sure why people has such opinion that IT guys get huge salary..

These days I have kept my reply simple saying "I can have a normal living with my salary, so much I will get".

Opportunities may not come again

When I was in Second PUC I used to attend tutions in Jaynagar, Bangalore. In the building where tutions were conducted  there was a movie/serial audio recording studio. One day our tutions got over early and we were chit chatting. A group of girls were running downstairs. Looking at this, we inquired whats happening downstairs. We got to know that a call from audio recording studio had come regarding a girl's voice was required for one episode and there was auditions going on for it and it was said that anyone can give a try. We were just curious to see auditions. So we went into the recording room. Dark, Sound proof room it was. Little bit of fear plus curiosity. Auditions started. They displayed a video on a big LCD screen and a dialogue page was given. Participants has to see the video and tell dialogue accordingly..

Participant #1 went to give auditions.

Participant #2 went to give auditions.

Participant #3 went to give auditions.

Participant #4 went to give auditions.

>> Rejected

Participant #5 went to give auditions.

>> Rejected

All got rejected. Only I and my two other friends were left. A person turned towards  us and said "can you people try." We replied saying "we just came to see auditions". That person replied saying "anyways you people have come, just give a try."

My friends agreed to try. But they got rejected. Only I was left. Heart beats started raising. Took dialogue sheet in hand, Looked into the screen. Started dubbing. Completed.

A person said this matches. A little bit of pride and a smile on my face :) They gave me another sheet and asked me to dub for it. It was around 5 minute conversation. Did it.Success :)

Well this dubbing was for a famous kannada serial Mangalya.. A mega serial actually ;)

Told this to my parents and close friends about it. Felt happy.

The next day as usual was going to tuitions. When I was climbing the stairs a person called me

Person: Excuse me.
Me: I turned.
Person: You are the one who gave voice yesterday right ?
Me: Yes.
Person: Your voice is good. Can you give your voice for dubbing regularly ?

I got tensed. I really don't know why. I replied to him saying "Sorry. I have lot of other work" and I left the place as quick as possible without even waiting for a response from him.

When I think of this conversation I keep laughing at myself thinking why did I speak like that ? A billion dollar question. :D

The reason why I am saying this is because when opportunities come to your door step, one should take time, think and then decide. Not like how I did :) If I had taken time and decided when a person offered  part time recording job, today you would have listened my voice in TV ;)

No Conclusion! Just a thought…

Yesterday there was a get together in my home. We were having lunch and Kannadada Kotyadipathi[kaun banega crorepati] program was running on TV. Everyone was busy chatting + enjoying food, but I was seeing the VT [Video tape about contestant] of the contestant. A silence emerged and people started answering for the questions displayed on TV.  Anchor started chatting with contestant and at some point of time contestant said “My wife is my life”.

For this statement a comment came from a person who had gathered at my home saying “Just because camera is there he is telling “My wife is life…etc.” In reality who knows what is truth. “

For that I replied saying papa he is. He is physically challenged. I saw his VT. I guess he means it.

For my statement a comment came from a person saying “Oh that’s why he is saying wife is life and all. Because she will do everything to him know. If he was fine this statement would not have come.”

I was speechless for a moment. I did not know what to respond back. I kept myself out of this topic.

Just imagine due to some bad time if something happens and you turn out to be a physically challenged.

Is it your weakness that you need a person?
Is it REAL love that you need a person?
Is it selfishness that you need a person?
Is it pain that you need a person to share your sadness?

Life gets changed in a second. Hell lot of sadness... Hate Sympathy at that moment... Still feel like getting some help…  It is a stage to conclude whether to live or die… It’s really painful for any individual to undergo this kind of situation.

A part of the soul says don’t be a burden on anybody. Why should one suffer because of me? Another part of the soul says how I can live alone, I need a person.  It’s a fight between split souls. It’s a point where no conclusion can be drawn.

Do you have an opinion on it?

If I ask the above question myself, I feel it is always better to get courage and fight alone in such situations. It is easy to say. But…………………….. That’s all I can say.

Smile

Photography by Sanketh Gurushankar Reddy
Smile has a lot of meaning

A wishing smile
A happy sign
A painful joy
A joyful pain
A selfish tweak
A jealousy curve
A lousy smile
A lauding touch
A candid laugh
A blushing cheek
A photo cheese
.
.
.
.
.
List never ends, cause Smile has a lot of meaning!

Oh dear Smile.. Just stick on to my lips.
Oh dear Smile.. Do not leave me alone.. Cause I just love you.

Madness

Wanna Scream loud..
Wanna Cry loud..
Wanna laugh loud..
Wanna Sing loud..

Who am I ?

I am a soul without which you are nothing..
I am darkness which leads you to light..
I am a stranger from which our friendship starts..

Confused ?

Try to walk in an unseen road.. You will definitely find an answer.

More confused ?

So am I.................................

Was simply thinking what to write next.. Scratched this. Please bear it!

Letter to the Editor [Deccan Herald]: Pondering down the lane

Recently I wrote a letter to the editor of Deccan Herald news paper stated as below. But I did not get any response back from Deccan Herald.

Pondering down the lane

While driving in the city, a few questions constantly haunt me.

1.   We pay fines for not wearing our helmet, for not wearing the seat belt, over speeding, not carrying our license documents and many more such reasons. Basically, for breaking rules. We see the traffic police busy collecting fines from commuters every day. This has become a usual routine - police catch people and people pay fine. By doing this, are people really refraining from breaking rules? Is there a monitoring system which is tracking this data? Is imposing fine a real solution?

2.     Traffic rules are meant for the safety of the commuters but what is the use of traffic rules if the roads are themselves not safe at all. There are roads that are heavily damaged and they remain in the same condition for months/years. Whom should the public impose fine upon?

3.     Driving in the city has become really frustrating. Few people are seen fighting in the middle of the road. The reason being that their vehicle was scratched by another. Few people start abusing others for changing the lane suddenly. Few people start abusing if someone is not able to start his/her vehicle when the traffic signal light has turned green and in many more such instances. Many mistakes are made unknowingly or due to fear or because of the lack of driving practice. I feel there is a need in updating the procedure of issuing the driving license and making it tough enough to enable better driving skills.

From past two days this issue is taken seriously by the regional media and getting  light on it. And today I see the roads getting repaired after the  discussion of this issue in news channels. Feeling really happy because I wrote a letter regarding the same.
